- Points are era-dependent. Scoring systems changed repeatedly between 1950 and today, so points totals favour modern drivers and should not be read as a ranking of ability.
- Constructors are counted as entered. Chassis-engine entries such as Lotus-Climax are recorded separately from the parent team, which is why the constructor count is higher than the number of lineages.
