The Long Version
The supercharged 158/159 Alfetta was already a decade old in 1950 and still beat everything on the grid.
Giuseppe Farina took the inaugural 1950 title and Juan Manuel Fangio the 1951 crown before Alfa withdrew.
Autodelta ran a works return from 1979 to 1985 with turbo V8s that were fast but fragile.
The name later reappeared as a Sauber title sponsorship from 2019 rather than a separate entry.
