Maserati supplied privateers from 1950 while developing the definitive front-engined grand prix car.
The 250F debuted in 1954 and won on its first outing with Fangio at Buenos Aires.
Fangio's 1957 championship, sealed with his Nürburgring drive, was the works team's final act.
A sports-car crash at Caracas ended the racing budget and the works entry withdrew after 1957.
